Skills learning in clinical settings are complicated. Multiple skills will need to be applied in some given scenarios, leading to a further need for triaging or managing the most critical life threatening condition first.

A robust platform is required to be able to perform this. Scenarios need to be scripted, roles assigned and faculty prepped for evaluation. Scenarios bring out all aspects of performance from application of skills, teamwork, Leadership and Communication. All scenarios begin with a pre-briefing, followed by allocation of time for preparation and then the scenario unfolds, putting the spotlight on the performing team.

Needless to say, after the completion of the scenario, video debriefing is a must do activity. The entire team reviews the video of their performance and discuss things which went well and things they would improvise on when they are likely to it in the future. The team learning is of immense value.
